Deming MainStreet, the City of Deming and local muralist Jesse Kriegle collaborated in the conceptual design for a “gateway” paver inlay at the intersection of Gold and Spruce Streets. The inlaid design, along with a colored concrete pavement will feature Mimbres inspired artwork, creating a sense of arrival at the southern entrance to Deming’s historic downtown.
Located next to the beautifully renovated Lyendecker Plaza and the recently completed, New Mexico Resiliancy Alliance grant-funded mural on the north side of Spruce Street, this project will complete a landmark placemaking effort spearheaded by Deming MainStreet.
As a result of the conceptual design and associated cost estimating, the City and Deming MainStreet were awarded state capital outlay funds in 2019 to assist in the completion of construction documents for the project.
