The renovations of two breezeways located within Tucumcari’s Great Blocks on Main Street project area will maintain momentum for the larger streetscape and infrastructure improvements project while providing valuable outdoor public space in the downtown.
Major improvements focus on themes central to Tucumcari’s history and culture, including the railroad, agriculture, Route 66, and dinosaurs and range from temporary community build benches and market stands to a one-of-a-kind tyrannosaurus rex “beacon” sculpture to draw visitors and create a unique selfie backdrop. Additionally, a mural map of downtown Tucumcari highlights local assets and destinations.
