- Consumers that shop small this holiday season have the potential to contribute an estimated $695 billion into the U.S. small business economy.
Consumers agree small businesses are vital to their communities.
- 87% of consumers believe small businesses are essential to their community and 89% say it is important to support the small businesses in their community because of the pandemic’s impact.
Holiday traditions were disrupted by the pandemic but consumers are looking to form new ones.
- 69% of consumers say their holiday traditions were disrupted last year by the pandemic and 61% agree they are looking forward to starting new holiday traditions this year.
Small businesses are relying on holiday sales to stay open in 2022.
- Small businesses are counting on holiday sales to keep their business afloat – 78% say holiday sales will impact their ability to stay in business in 2022.
Small businesses need customer support now more than ever.
- Getting customers in the door (62%) or online (43%) would be most helpful in helping small businesses stay open through the end of this year.
Consumers are rallying behind small businesses this holiday season.
- 63% of small business owners are preparing for a bigger holiday shopping season knowing many customers could not shop last year.
- 75% of small business owners believe consumers will make more of an effort to support small businesses this holiday season.
- 56% of small businesses agree that this year’s Small Business Saturday is more critical than ever for their business.
- 42% of consumers say they plan to Shop Small on Small Business Saturday and 80% of consumers say they are likely to shop small this holiday season.
