MainStreet Refresh Planning Launches in Three NM Communities

Three New Mexico MainStreet communities have launched efforts to adopt transformative economic development strategies to guide projects under the “Refreshed” Main Street Four-Point Approach™.

Nob Hill MainStreet, after viewing the NMMS Asset-Based Economic Development webinars, has identified four key strategies that focus on infrastructure, mixed-used development, arts & culture and enhancing the district’s retail niche.

Carlsbad MainStreet, with support from NMMS, convened a half-day board retreat to reformulate their existing work plan under two strategies that concentrate on capturing local consumer dollars and eliminating “leakage”, as well as enhancing the district’s opportunities as a food destination.

Historic Bridge MainStreet, South Valley graduated to Start-Up MainStreet Community and hosted a community input session and day-long planning workshop with a NMMS Resource Team. Nearly 30 individuals participated over three days to identify projects that expand the community as a destination for arts, cultural and heritage tourism via enhanced business development and entrepreneurial ventures.
