Hear from 44 local, regional, state and national speakers, take part in educational tracks on cultural corridors and placemaking (be sure to sign up for the special field workshop in placemaking, which is sure to fill up fast). Be a part of fun and informative networking opportunities and don’t miss the opening celebration that will feature internationally renowned dancer and choreographer Rulan Tangen and her ensemble, Dancing Earth, who will perform a new piece designed to celebrate the theme of our 2015 event. Or join the party at The Big Barn Bolos and Bandanas Reception, where you can break out your concho belts, Stetsons, and Cowboy boots, enjoy delicious Western fare; and dance the night away to sweet sounds of the New Mexican southwestern country rock group Anthony Leon and the Chain. There are so many creative experiences and networking opportunities available at the Building Creative Communities Conference, register soon, so you don’t miss a thing.
A collaborative effort of three state agencies — New Mexico MainStreet (Economic Development Department), New Mexico Heritage Preservation Division (Department of Cultural Affairs), and New Mexico Arts (Department of Cultural Affairs). All partner agencies realize that together we can build stronger New Mexico communities by promoting the coordination of interdisciplinary strategies that leverage each others’ strengths. By fostering cooperative efforts that integrate commercial district revitalization, arts, tourism and history, New Mexico can creatively build communities that dynamically sustain effective initiatives and be more resilient in the face of economic change.
