BBER Case Studies

Below are Community Economic Assessments of several MainStreet towns done by the University of New Mexico's Bureau of Business and Economic Research (BBER). These reports illustrate each community's market or trade area, its economic strengths and weaknesses, trends in business development, and the specific role of the MainStreet district in the economy of the town and its surrounding region. They include recommendations for a strategy to take advantage of each community's best assets, expanding businesses, and supporting new entrepreneurial ventures most likely to succeed in downtown.

Research and data detailed in the report includes: demographic information (population, race and ethnicity, educational achievement, population mobility, housing supply, income and poverty, employment patterns and labor characteristics); gross receipts (by industry and retail and service sub sectors); and employment patterns (by industry, occupation and type of employer).
