NMMS Upcoming Webinars

NMMS presents our Spring Webinar Series, designed for easy participation over the lunch hour, targeting those who are unable to attend the NMMS Quarterly Networking Meetings or NMMS Training Institutes. The webinars represent a renewed focus on asset-based economic development goals and metrics by MainStreet America™ and the state coordinating bodies. Intended Audience: Board members, staff and partners for MainStreet, Arts & Cultural Districts and other interested individuals who would like a better understanding of the MainStreet approach to economic development are invited to take part. Each webinar will highlight one of the Four Points.

Throughout New Mexico, communities possess tremendous pent-up potential in real estate assets, especially the historic and quality buildings, and prime locations, in our traditional business districts. Much of the MainStreet program’s activities are geared toward directly and indirectly intensifying the use of these assets to strengthen the community’s economic and cultural health. The webinar lays the foundation for local MainStreet leaders to become more intentional about the important roles they play in facilitating building rehabilitations and new construction. Intended Audience: MainStreet Executive Directors, Economic Vitality committee or team members, other committee members, board members, property owners, and local government leaders will find this session useful.

The webinar will:
• Highlight Five Finance Fallacies
• Review the many steps of the National Main Street Center’s Community Initiated Development Process, organized in the stages of concept, analysis, preparation, implementation and operation
• Discuss project financing gap analysis and how various government and public-private tools are designed to address gaps
• Look at a list of financing programs, focusing on tools that promise to be of most use on Main Street.
